Due italiani hanno ricevuto in questi giorni alti riconoscimenti per il loro contributo pluridecennale alla società taiwanese nell’ambito sociale e in quello economico. Il primo è un sacerdote, padre Giuseppe Didone, che vive a Taiwan da 55 anni, premiato per il contributo nel campo della salute pubblica e il servizio a favore dell’umanità.
L’altro è un casertano, l’Ing. Giuseppe Izzo (nella foto in fondo all’articolo), impegnato lavorativamente a Taiwan dal 1991, già insignito in Italia del titolo di Commendatore dell’Ordine della Stella d’Italia, conferita dal Presidente della Repubblica Italiana Sergio Mattarella su proposta del Ministro degli Esteri Luigi Di Maio. Il 3 dicembre ha ricevuto la “Medaglia dell’Amicizia al Valore Diplomatico”, alto riconoscimento concesso per la prima volta ad un cittadino straniero. Il ministro degli esteri Joseph Wu ha riconosciuto i meriti acquisiti dall’Ing. Izzo nella sua trentennale attività professionale nell’ambito dell’azienda di microprocessori StMicroelectronics e il suo ruolo nella Camera di Commercio Europea di cui egli è stato presidente a due riprese (2013-2015; 2018-2020).
E’ stato posto in rilievo l’impegno solidaristico e il contributo dato durante l’emergenza Covid.
